Justice Ministry sets payments for mourning hall preachers in new decisions

The Ministry of Justice and Islamic Affairs announced new decisions titled "Regulation of Preaching and Religious Chanting" (No. 74 of 2026). They set payments for Husseini preachers and give the Jaafari Endowments Directorate authority to disburse them. These decisions affect the organization of preaching activities in Damascus.

According to the website bhfuture: As part of ongoing initiatives to improve public services in Damascus, the “Sewer Network Improvement” project (No. 74 of 2026) has been announced to address existing problems in some areas, including older neighborhoods with poor infrastructure. The project is part of government efforts since 2011 to address the city’s growing needs. It is expected to ease the burden on residents and improve quality of life.

The project will focus on neighborhoods that lack adequate sewer services, a step considered necessary to ensure a healthy and safe environment for residents. It also targets areas where these services have deteriorated significantly, negatively affecting residents’ daily lives.

A local official said, “Improving the sewer network is an urgent necessity to ensure the safety of Damascus residents and provide basic services effectively.”

The project is part of a comprehensive strategy to improve public services in Damascus, alongside other projects involving water and electricity. It is scheduled to be carried out in cooperation with several local and international companies, ensuring that its objectives are achieved effectively and quickly.
